Let's Go Port
the challenge
The Electric Boat Association of Greece (E.B.A. Greece), under the auspices of the Ministry of Maritime and Insular Policy, the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Energy & Environment, co-organize the 1st Greek Electric Boat Challenge titled “Let’s Go Port”, themed around electric boats and ships. The competing phases will take place in ports all around Greece, and the exact span of the whole duration is estimated at 9 months, specifically from September 23rd, 2019 to June 13th, 2020.
The concept of the contest endorses the development of electrical vessel technology with a view to protecting the environment through promotion and encouragement of the said technology. More distinct targets are:
- Emergence of new talents in the field of Shipbuilding and Marine Mechanics,
- Connecting Secondary and Tertiary Education with the labour market, by creating virtual state-of-art technology businesses,
- Supporting the activities of these businesses within the Hellenic Insular Territory, by enabling the local island economies to develop, in addition to established profiting means (i.e. traditional products, tourism services etc.), those of construction and production of technology, thus attempting to contribute to a revival of artisanship and industry in our country through shipbuilding, in which we boast an age-old tradition.

Each team will be free to decide whether to accept this deal or look for other offers for accommodation and board.
Teams and escorts
Each school will be responsible for escorting the students to the places where the contest will be held. Our task is to take care of all described in the package-deal. The school will decide on any other issue regarding the escorting. Of course, we will be available to answer any questions and offer clarifications.
We will be assisted by scientific and technical committees of teachers of the related subjects, with whom we can arrange contact if you so wish, so that they can clarify any questions or details as to the exact steps you should take for your participation.
Each team should comprise one (1) teacher-escort and seven (7) students. By way of exception, a smaller team might be accepted, depending on the specific school population, possible previous experience etc.

We are truly hoping for an ongoing increase, year by year, in the number of teams that will apply for participation. In all countries where the same contest has been held so far, students as well as teachers were so enthusiastic about their participation, that they wished to repeat the experience the next year, or they even decided to follow a personal professional path in the field of Shipbuilding.
It should be noted that, in future contests, schools from other prefectures of Mainland Greece will also be permitted to participate, provided this is officially requested by the authorized school or the Municipality or the region.
